While the Vinnies CEO Sleepout, Christmas Appeal and Winter Appeal are national fundraisers, some states and territories also run their own appeals to meet local needs. In Tasmania, the St Vincent de Paul Society runs its annual School Essentials Appeal to help make sure every Tasmanian child has the opportunity to do well at school.

With the price of food, rent, utilities and transport pushing families into crisis, many Tasmanians are struggling to meet the costs of daily family life. Finding a way to pay the bills, and buy the things their children need for school, will be impossible for many parents and carers.
