Home is most dangerous
"Home is the most dangerous place they know" | Youth Homelessness in Victoria
For some young people, home is the most dangerous place they know. Ebony, from the Young Adults Outreach team at VincentCare Victoria, shares the story of a young woman trapped in years of violence, instability and unsafe housing and what it took to finally break the cycle. More young mums are now coming through, often with children, often escaping violence, without the supported accommodation they desperately need. The gap is real. And it's growing.

Volunteers take the stage
Hitting the runway for the annual Vinnies Fashion Show was a host of volunteers from five of our Vinnies Shops: Footscray, Newport, Moonee Ponds, Ascot Vale and Hoppers Crossing.
Items showcased in the show came from our shops and were presented an an outstanding and creative way. Needless to say, our volunteers had a great time strutting their stuff down the runway.
Thank you to all who participated and you can read more...the Vinnies Fashion Show was featured in The Guardian with wonderful images by photographer, Eugene Hyland/The Guardian.

Nowhere safe to go
A St Vincent de Paul Society Victoria Case Worker's truth about family violence.
Diane has spent years on the frontline as a Domestic & Family Violence Case Worker at VincentCare Victoria. In this video, she cuts through the statistics to share the reality: women and children fleeing violence often have nowhere safe to go — and without enough resources, case workers are left watching families face an impossible choice between danger and homelessness.

Response to State Budget
Housing investment welcomed, but homelessness prevention remains underfunded
St Vincent de Paul Society Victoria has welcomed new investment in social housing and homelessness responses in the FY 2026-2027 Victorian State Budget, but says prevention and early intervention remain underfunded as demand continues to rise. With requests for emergency welfare assistance up 85%, the Society says stronger investment in prevention is critical to stop more Victorians reaching crisis.

Winter Appeal
David found out how easy it is to lose everything and be pushed into homelessness.
All his life he worked hard but then the work dried up and he found himself unable to pay the rent. It was a devastating shock. In a few short months, he went from a well-paid job to sleeping in a park.
All it took was one sudden setback and David was sleeping rough.
This winter, more and more people like David are being pushed into homelessness. All it takes is one sudden crisis.
