The St Vincent de Paul Society hosted an information session at Parliament House, led by National President Mark Gaetani and supported by Louise Miller-Frost MP, to present the Society-commissioned ANU report A Fairer Tax and Welfare System 2025 — highlighting practical, budget-neutral reforms to lift more Australians out of poverty.

10 December 2025 marks the anniversary of the global pledge set out in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

On this day, we stand together for human rights which are positive and essential to our everyday lives. They reflect the common values that unite us across differences in race, gender, belief, and background. In a world of uncertainty, they protect our right to safety, to speak freely, and to participate in decisions that affect us.

Human rights are attainable. We honour them by showing respect, kindness, helpfulness, openness, proactivity, and patience in our daily lives.
