Vincentians wish Pope Leo XIV a speedy recovery
Statement from Mark Gaetani, National President, St Vincent de Paul Society National Council of Australia
“On behalf of the St Vincent de Paul Society in Australia and Vincentians across the country, I extend our heartfelt wishes and prayers to Pope Leo XIV following his successful surgery.
“We are heartened by the news that the Holy Father’s surgery went well, and we join Catholics around the world in praying for his healing and a full recovery.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with Pope Leo, and with the medical team and all those caring for him.
“As Vincentians, our faith calls us to offer compassion and care to people experiencing hardship, illness and vulnerability. In that same spirit, we send the Holy Father our heartfelt support as he rests and recovers.
“May he find comfort and strength in the love and prayers of the Catholic community in Australia and across the globe.”
The St Vincent de Paul Society in Australia consists of more than 40,000 Members and volunteers who operate on the ground through over 1,000 groups located in local communities across the country.
