At St Vincent de Paul QLD, we provide education and employment pathways to people overcoming challenges in their re-entry to the community, learning and work.
Our programs will support you as you build your skills, increase confidence and transition to new opportunities and a better future.

Our Education and Training Services
Clemente Program
The Clemente Program is a tuition-free, University accredited program where you can study a Certificate of Liberal Studies through the Australian Catholic University in Brisbane.
De Marillac Pathways Program
The De Marillac Pathways program can help you if you have experienced domestic and family violence and want to gain new skills to find a suitable job.
Toowoomba Scholarship Program
The Toowoomba Scholarship Program supports people who live in the Toowoomba region to engage and succeed within training and education.
About The Clemente Program
The St Vincent de Paul Society QLD is dedicated to providing a highly supportive environment to access university learning through the Brisbane based Clemente program.
You can choose from subjects including Creative Writing, History, Philosophy, Political Science, and Indigenous Australian History, and will be supported throughout your studies to complete a Certificate of Liberal Studies and continue with further university study if desired.
You’ll be joining a learning community where you’ll build your skills and confidence with the support of volunteer learning partners and people committed to your success.

In Queensland, you have the choice of two locations:
Wednesdays: Common Ground Queensland, 15 Hope Street South Brisbane
Thursdays: Australian Catholic University, 1100 Nudgee Road Banyo
This program operates in partnership with the Australian Catholic University, Sisters of Mercy Brisbane, Micah Projects, and Common Ground Queensland.

Are You Eligible?
To be eligible, you must:
- Be 17 years of age, or older

Have experienced disruptions to your learning as a result of hardships or challenges.

Want to Volunteer as a Learning Partner?
If you are interested in volunteering at St Vincent de Paul, visit the volunteer page.
As a Clemente Learning Partner, you can support students through their University qualification in a Certificate of Liberal Studies. We are looking for people who can motivate students in their learning journey and assist them with coursework requirements, writing skills and using technology.
Eligibility:
To become a volunteer, you must have:
- a University degree,
- a good grounding in tertiary education and,
- an understanding of the process of study and mentoring
You will also be required to undergo a National Police Check and may require a Blue Card.
Your Commitment: Class lectures are held for 12 weeks each semester. You will attend a 2-hour lecture then spend dedicated time assisting students for 1 hour. You will be given all the training you need and we will match you with a student who best needs your support.

About the De Marillac Pathways Program
Our team are working to provide a hand-up into employment to those who have experienced hardship in the home.
The De Marillac Pathways program can help you if you have experienced domestic and family violence and want to gain new skills to find a suitable job. Located on the Gold Coast, the program team will work closely with you to help you find work experience, write your resume, and help you prepare for interviews.
You may also be able to access entry-level job vacancies and get support after you have secured a job.

Are You Eligible?
To be eligible for the De Marillac Pathways program, you must:
- be over 18 years old,
- be experiencing domestic or family violence within an intimate personal, family, or care relationship; and
- live between the Northern and Southern end of the Gold Coast.
You may be eligible for the program regardless of your current employment, but priority will be given to people who are unemployed. If you are in a low-income job or looking to change careers, we will work to support you where we can.

About the Toowoomba Scholarship Program
The St Vincent de Paul Society QLD understands the value of qualifications that demonstrate your knowledge and skill, and is dedicated to supporting students through their chosen pathway.
The Toowoomba Scholarship Program is available to people living in the Toowoomba region to support them at any stage of their study through a $1,500 scholarship and the academic and social support of a volunteer Learning Partner.
The program offers:
- financial assistance,
- career guidance,
- one-to-one mentoring support; and
- peer support.

Are You Eligible?
To be eligible for the Toowoomba Scholarship Program, you must:
- Live in Toowoomba
- Be a permanent resident, or hold a relevant visa (not including Study Visa)
- Not currently be attending school
As part of the eligibility screening process, once you’ve spoken with our team, we will require a written reference from a community member, and a statement demonstrating financial hardship faced or barriers to education/training/employment. You’ll be asked to write a personal statement about your educational journey and the change you’re hoping to achieve.

Looking To Volunteer As A Learning Partner?
To apply to become a Learning Partner, please complete the Expression of Interest form and email the completed form to education@svdpqld.org.au.
Your Commitment: We are looking for people who can spend up to 1-2 hours per fortnight providing study and social support to a student either online or face-to-face. Some students will be studying for 3 months, others up to 12 months.
You will be given all the training you need and we will match you with a student who best matched the support you can provide. You will also be required to undergo a National Police Check and may require a Blue Card.
