Our store offers a range of goods from clothing for all ages, through to bedding, books, toys, and more. We cater for people locally, for people coming from outbush and surrounding communities, and for visitors to Tennant Creek.

The Vinnies Tennant Creek store is truly part and parcel of the local community. People come to shop, but they also come to visit and have a chat with our team.

Our volunteers are terrific. They love to engage with visitors to the store, and they really get to know the regular customers. They are happy to help you find what you need in the store or direct you to a service in the community that can help.

If you are a people person, or are keen to develop confidence in retail, customer service or administration skills, consider volunteering with Vinnies. Just speak to Julie our store manager the next time you visit.

Whether you are looking for affordable clothes for your family, household items for your accommodation, or just wanting to explore the treasure trove of goods and people you’ll find at our store, please visit soon.

Meet Julie, Store Manager

Julie joined Vinnies in December 2019 as Store Manager of the Tennant Creek store after having retired as a Literacy Lecturer and Foundation Skills Lecturer twice before. Julie keeps retiring, but somehow life keeps calling her back to take on new opportunities and challenges.

What do you love about your role?

I’m a people person, so I love the conversation. Having a chat, checking in with someone to see how their day is going. I’ve lived here for 10 years, and the store has a real community feel.

It goes without saying that I love that we are helping people, helping our local community, giving people a hand up through volunteering, and the opportunity to develop valuable skills for future employment, while providing affordable goods and caring service.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

Hang out with my grandkids – they range in age from two to five years of age. We just love to picnic and play on the swing in the yard.

If you had a superpower, what would it be?

To fly. Just fly up high, looking down – it would be so peaceful.

And just for a little fun, what’s your favourite dessert?

Apple Crumble with Caramel Custard – a childhood favourite.
