Passages Youth Engagement Hub

Passages Logo

Passages was established as a result of the growing rate of youth homelessness in Western Australia and the need for a unique specialist engagement service.

Passages is a Youth Engagement Hub providing a non-judgemental safe space to our communities most marginalised and at risk young people in Perth and Peel. Young people aged 12 to 25 years have a safe, friendly and positive place to access support and referrals to essential services.

Passages is very often the first step off the street for young people with complex needs. The people we help are often excluded from other support services and would otherwise have nowhere else to turn. Passages works to build relationships with young people by offering practical assistance and support, while identifying longer term needs and issues.

Passages Youth Engagement Hubs are a joint venture between Vinnies WA and Rotary Club of Perth.

You can make a difference

Currently Passages receive no ongoing government funding and relies heavily on community and corporate donations and specific fundraising events to continue to provide much needed services.

The Passages three key pillars

Basic needs - Engagement, rapport building, food, showers, laundry, clothing, phone and computer access, etc

Youth worker support - Person centred support, informed referrals, centre based mentoring, advocacy, life-skills groups, etc.

Visiting allied agencies - A network of agencies offering key support to young people from one of the centres.

The service engages with young people who are experiencing homelessness and disconnection from the community to overcome disadvantage and realise their full potential.

Our People

The service is delivered by professional youth workers who work to empower young people by facilitating their independence and supporting participation in their community. The 1-1 intensive support is often a lengthy process and can be life changing for individuals.

Our Story

Passages is a joint venture between the St Vincent de Paul Society (WA) Inc and the Rotary Club of Perth. Passages Perth was established in 1999 and Passages Peel opened in 2012. The buildings are both named ‘Bendat House’ to honour the generosity of Jack Bendat and family.
