About the St Vincent de Paul Society Queensland Strategy

Our State Council is responsible for the strategic oversight of the Society’s activities in Queensland. Everything we do is done in consultation with our members, volunteers, and staff – they are a critical piece in the impact we can make.

Our 2022-2027 Strategic Plan details the key areas that we are focusing on now, and into the future as we look at the road ahead. The plan looks at the key issues facing Queenslanders and outlines our mission-led response and six strategic priorities that align with our vision, values, and purpose.

The six strategic priorities, that will unify our key areas of focus through to 2027, are:

  1. Growth And Development of Membership
  2. Building On Our Housing and Homelessness Response
  3. Expand and Improve Our Cost of Living Emergency and Disaster Relief Response
  4. Advocacy and Inclusion For Highly Disadvantaged
  5. Uniting Our People in Response
  6. Investing in Our Governance and Resources

Thank you to everyone who was involved in developing this five year strategic plan. You are the heart and the hands of our Society, and enable us every day to serve vulnerable people through our faith in action as servants of Christ.

500 Homes Update

Our Society has partnered with the State Government to build 147 social and affordable homes across Toowoomba, Bundaberg and the Gold Coast, with construction expected to start in 2024.

This partnership was officially announced in person by Queensland’s new Housing Minister Meaghan Scanlon at our Sleepout event at the Brisbane Riverstage.

It’s the first major announcement in our Society’s 500 homes in 5 Years project, which aims to double our Society’s housing stock over the next five years for Queenslanders in need.

CEO Kevin Mercer said this announcement would provide safe and supported homes for Queenslanders struggling to find affordable housing in these areas.
