Our impact: young student finds meaning in volunteering
When 17-year-old high school student Corey began his volunteer placement at Vinnies WA’s Retail Shop in Canning Vale, he knew little about the incredible impact he was about to make.
Corey is among a group of Year 12 students from Willetton Senior High School who have been volunteering twice a week for the past three months as part of the school’s VET program.
“I love interacting with people,” Corey said. “It feels great to be part of something that really matters.”
Admittedly, Corey knew little about the support and services Vinnies provides in the wider WA community.
“I now know that, through volunteering at Vinnies, we are supporting local families who are doing it tough,” he said.
