When single mother Jane was struggling to put food on the table to feed her four young children, she began to lose hope.<o:p></o:p>

Our Impact: Jane* finds food and warmth at Community Kitchen 

“I was desperate for help. When I first reached out, I was pregnant with my youngest and I was juggling being a single mum to three young kids,” Jane recalled.<o:p></o:p>
“And trying to keep everything together, it was really tough.”<o:p></o:p>
It wasn’t until she discovered a local community kitchen, which is hosted every Wednesday evening by Vinnies WA’s dedicated team of Members and Volunteers that she began to feel hopeful.<o:p></o:p>
“At first I was really ashamed to seek help,” Jane said. “But after I went for the first time, and saw how friendly and welcoming everyone was, I realised that there is absolutely no shame asking for help.”<o:p></o:p>
Three years on, Jane and her family are regulars at Vinnies’ weekly community kitchen.<o:p></o:p>
She said the simple act of being provided a hearty meal once a week for her family has made a world of difference.<o:p></o:p>
“I am incredibly grateful for this community kitchen run by Vinnies, and the volunteers who run this place are amazing,” she said.<o:p></o:p>
“We now look forward to our weekly visits – and it’s one less night a week that I have to stress about putting food on the table for my kids.<o:p></o:p>
“It’s more than just a meal, we have made friends here and we feel like we are part of a community.”
