Mandurah volunteer donates trolly loads of food to Vinnies

Simply put, the 77-year-old loves nothing more than giving back to others who are less fortunate, and understands that the need for support is greater than ever.

As a volunteer with the Red Cross, Vinny selflessly gives her time on alternating weekends, collecting hundreds of non-perishable food items which are donated by passing shoppers. 

The items are then distributed to local charities in the Mandurah area, including Vinnies WA’s local Emergency Relief Support Centre. 

Vinny often fills three to four shopping trollies to the brim with food items, which goes a long way to supporting local families doing it tough.

Regularly spotted outside the supermarket at Halls Head Shopping Centre, Vinny has become a friendly and familiar face to local shoppers.

“I just love helping people,” she said. “If I am in a position to give back to other people less fortunate, then I will keep on doing it for as long as I can.”
