This week for NAIDOC Week, Vinnies WA proudly celebrates 50 years of recognising the strength, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples across WA and beyond.

NAIDOC is more than just a week of celebration – it is a time to reflect, learn, listen and deepen our understanding of Aboriginal culture and history.

This year’s theme - 50 years deadly - prompts Australians to recognise the history, strength, and resilience in the Aboriginal organisations, families, and young people across WA, spanning from as far north as the Kimberley all the way down to the Great Southern.

As an organisation that provides support services across regional WA, Vinnies WA is committed to listening more, helping more, and understanding more about First Nations stories and experiences.

In celebrating this year’s theme, we want to honour the generations who have led the way and the next generation who continue to move forward with strength and pride.

Vinnies WA’s vision as part of our Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) is to forge stronger relationships, build a deeper cultural awareness and create more meaningful opportunities with First Nations communities, whether it is through providing support to someone in need, building a corporate partnership, or commissioning broader work across the organisation.
