2026 Vinnies WA CEO Sleepout relocates to Perth Zoo
For the first time in its 17-year history, Vinnies WA’s flagship CEO Sleepout will take place at the iconic Perth Zoo on Thursday 18 June.
This year, our CEOSO Participants and Ambassadors can expect to be woken early by the call of the Zoo’s beloved residents – namely the Gibbons, who are known for their boisterous morning song that begins around 4.30am in the morning.
The CEO Sleepout raises vital funds which support life changing programs and services for WA's most vulnerable community members, with the current housing and cost of living crisis pushing more and more families to the brink of homelessness.
This year’s event comes at a critical time of need for thousands of vulnerable West Australians, with new data revealing that two in three homeless adults, children and young people are seeking support from two of Vinnies WA’s vital homelessness services, Tom Fisher House and Passages Youth Engagement Hubs, for the first time
Vinnies WA has also seen an overwhelming demand for help so far in 2026 with our Emergency Relief program, with thousands of West Australians inundating our Emergency Relief call centre asking for support in the way of food, fuel, living essentials, rent assistance and payment of bills.
In February alone, Vinnies WA supported 3,328 WA families with emergency assistance. However, limited resources meant that a further 1,641 WA families were forced to go without and could not be assisted in February, as services were at capacity.
In February 2026, food assistance requests increased by more than 30 per cent (3070) compared to December 2025 (2273), which reflects increasing cost of living pressures.
Fuel assistance followed a similar trend, with requests rising by more than 30 per cent from 220 requests in December 2025 to 294 in February 2026.
With fuel costs remaining high, Vinnies anticipates even more demand for fuel support in the coming months.
Over the year in 2025, around 17 per cent of families supported with Emergency Relief asked for help for the first time.
So far this year, more than 40 CEOs and business leaders have registered – but we need more to join this cause!
