Drought Community Support Initiative Round 2
The Drought Community Support Initiative (DCSI) Round 2 is a Federal Government funded grant that provides immediate financial assistance of up to $3000 to farmers, farm workers, or farm suppliers/contractors including sale yard and abattoir workers who have been financially impacted by drought.
To be eligible you must be:
- 18 years old or older
- An Australian citizen or permanent resident
- Living and/or working in an eligible Local Government Area (click here to check if your area is eligible)
Payments may cover numerous expenses such as groceries, vehicle maintenance, energy & utility bills, health & medical expenses, for example. The benefit is limited to one per household up to a maximum cash payment of $3000.
Not all impacts of the drought are the same. Some drought-affected communities have had rainfall, others haven't. Recovery is ongoing. Whatever your situation, we understand it takes time to bounce back.
Contact our Drought Relief team today to find out if you are eligible, or to apply over the phone call 1300 846 643 or apply online.

Important update: 4 December 2020
The Drought Community Support Initiative Round 2 continues to be available through St Vincent de Paul Society until 30 April 2021, or until program funding is exhausted.
Click here to see the 91 Local Government Areas still eligible for this extension.
There is still only one Round 2 payment allowed per household.
Please note that applications for assistance in some Local Government Areas supported by The Salvation Army have now closed, as funding has been exhausted in these areas. Vinnies is unable to assist you with Drought Community Support Initiative Round 2 funding if you reside in The Salvation Army allocated areas.
The Salvation Army has assisted over 25,000 farming families to meet urgent expense, including for food, petrol, and utilities. The injection of money into rural and regional communities has supported local businesses, who are also struggling financially from the impact of drought. Their teams remain available to assist in other ways should you still require support.
The Round 2 Program Guidelines are available at business.gov.au/grants-and-programs/drought-communities-programme-drought-community-support-initiative
This is an Australian Government initiative. Vinnies is assisting to distribute the funds. Round 2 funding of the DCSI has been open since 19 November 2019 and will continue until December 2020. You can only receive payment once during this period.
