1 in 17 Territorians experience Homelessness every night. Ozanam House Day Centre for the Homeless Volunteers foster a safe place to restore hope and dignity. It is the only homeless centre in Darwin and is a front-line service that works with some of the most vulnerable people in our community. 

Vinnies is looking for people who...

  • Have an interest in our community.
  • Are keen to make friends and work together under the direction of the Centre Coordinator. 
  • Can give 3 hours per week/ fortnight or month 'up to' as many hours as you wish.
  • Have availability Monday to Friday between 7am - 1pm.

The Role:

  • Training and Support provided by the Centre Coordinator. 
  • 100% discretionary - you choose your own hours!
  • Greeting guests and foster a compassionate and respectful environment.
  • Prepare nutritious meals in the Ozanam House Kitchen.
  • Serving meals (breakfast/ lunch).
  • Collecting and washing laundry including towels from shower services.
  • Learn and understand Vinnies Services and referrals to other services. 
  • Centre Cleaning

Personal Protective Equipment / Clothing and Uniforms:

Vinnies ask all Volunteers wear:

  • Enclosed shoes.
  • Casual, conformable and appropriate clothing for the role above.
  • Uniforms are not provided.
