After a rigorous recruitment process, St Vincent de Paul Society WA former Executive Manager of Business Service Ann Curran has been announced as the new Chief Executive Officer. Ann steps into the role following the retirement of former CEO Susan Rooney, who retired in July after eight years at the helm.
Joining the Society in WA in 2018, Ann was acting in the CEO role until her official appointment was announced by St Vincent de Paul Society WA’s State President Danny Cloghan on 7 August.
Ann said it was her ‘deep commitment to social justice’ that inspired her to join the Society.
‘Growing up in a small village in Ireland, I learned that a community is best measured by how it cares for those who are most vulnerable and in need of assistance,’ she said.
‘The St Vincent de Paul Society has a long history of caring for the most vulnerable in our WA community, delivering material assistance and specialist programs and services with hope, dignity, and connection.’
When asked about her vision for the Society in WA and the community it supports, Ann’s answer was simple: ‘As CEO, my vision is for more just and compassionate society.’
WA State President Danny said Ann’s appointment was the right fit for the organisation.
‘The State Council has absolute confidence in Ann’s ability to lead the Society through its next chapter,’ he said. ‘Over the past seven years, she has demonstrated a deep understanding of our mission and operations, combined with a strong strategic mindset and a values-driven approach to leadership.
‘Now as CEO, she brings both continuity and renewed vision, qualities that will be instrumental as we grow our impact and respond to the increasing complexity of need in our community.’
