IGA supports Vinnies at Christmas

Whilst the festive season is meant to be a joyful time for families, unfortunately for more people than ever this Christmas will be particularly challenging. Each year across the country, our members support over half a million people with food, clothing, household items, cost of living expenses like utilities, and emotional support along with connecting people with ongoing assistance and services.

With households continuing to feel the impact of soaring prices, our members and services are seeing people reach out for the most basic of needs. Many of the people we assist would seemingly be in a stable position with dual incomes and housing – yet even people in these circumstances are reaching out for food to get by from month to month and week to week. The pressure to get by is reflected in polling conducted for the St Vincent de Paul Society which found that 3 in 5 Australians believe cost of living pressures are making it difficult to plan or think about festive season celebrations.

As always, Vinnies, with support from IGA, will be there for thousands of Australians seeking assistance to pay their bills, rent, basic expenses, and keep food on the table.

IGA has been a national partner of Vinnies since 2012. Through the sales of IGA Community Chest products and Vinnies Appeal tokens, IGA has raised over $5.7 million to support people during the festive season and natural disasters. We are calling for your support to help raise funds for the surge of Australians doing it tough this Christmas, people who need a hand up to make ends meet.

Head into your local IGA this November and December to help locals in need by purchasing a pack of Vinnies Christmas Gift Tags or any products with a blue Community Chest ticket.

Vinnies Christmas Gift Tags will be on sale in-store only for $3.30 from 29^th October to 25^th December 2025 – or until sold out - with all funds raised going directly to support people in need.

Plus, products marked with a blue Community Chest ticket will be available from 3^rd December to 30^th December 2025 at IGA stores. You can help us raise even more funds just by doing your grocery shop.

What does your support provide?

Funds raised from the sale of Vinnies Christmas Gift Tags and products with a Community Chest ticket will be used to provide urgent relief for families who are struggling to survive the increasing cost-of-living-pressures this Christmas and prevent them from spiralling into homelessness. For the many Australians struggling to make ends meet, your support shows that we are all in this together.

• $81 can provide food hampers to people who are going hungry
• $137 can help cover the cost of critical medication
• $382 can help pay for basic utilities, including fuel so people can get to work or school
• $929 can help towards rent so vulnerable people can remain in their home
