Vinnies’ own Pauline McIntyre is a tireless champion for those less fortunate than herself, and now she’s been given a chance to make another big contribution, but she needs your help.

Pauline has volunteered for Vinnies for more than 25 years as both a member and an Archivist.

As a member, her contribution includes listening to the families who call for assistance, delivering food and clothing vouchers, organising help with urgent furniture deliveries, utility bills and car rego.

More recently, calls for help from victims of family violence and homelessness have been on the rise and she helps find accommodation and arranges referrals to free qualified financial counsellors, who can help sort out more complicated money matters.

It comes as no surprise that she’s been nominated as one of the three finalists in the Westfield Carousel Local Hero promotion.

Westfield Local Heroes are nominated and voted for by their communities. The finalist with the most community votes will become the Westfield Carousel Local Hero for 2022, receiving a $20,000 grant for the organisation they represent.

If Pauline is successful, Vinnies will use its funds to support local people with essentials, including rent, utilities, school needs and food.

The public voting for Westfield Local Heroes is now open and will close on 22 August.
