This is a large site and it is planned to build in stages. Initially building on the vacant land, this will allow existing residents to have the opportunity to move into brand-new accommodation. After that, the existing older properties will be demolished and replaced with additional new dwellings.
We are building 84 new properties, with a mixture of 1- and 2-bedroom homes over several levels.
Note: The Kennington project will be delivered in two stages, allowing the 25 current residents to move into new homes by July 2026. Stage two is forecasted to begin in August 2026, with full completion by November 2027.

VincentCare Community Housing recently welcomed Premier Jacinta Allan to the site we are developing in partnership with Homes Victoria and the Victorian Government—84 brand new apartments and townhouses to replace 30 old social housing units, with a focus on housing people aged 55+, including those at risk of homelessness.
A two-stage build means current residents of the social housing units can move into their new homes before the old ones are demolished—ensuring stability, security and dignity.
These new homes will offer individuals and couples the stability to stay in one place and build lasting community connections in Bendigo.
This community-focused development will support people over 55 with 64 one-bedroom apartments, 10 two-bedroom apartments and 10 townhouses.
Residents will enjoy a vibrant hub with shared spaces, green areas and secure bike storage, designed to foster connection and wellbeing.
The Kennington project will be delivered in two stages, allowing the 25 current residents to move into new homes by July 2026. Stage two is forecast to begin in August 2026, with full completion by November 2027.
