Lending a hand

Vinnies NILS offers no-interest loans to help purchase essential goods and services with fair, accessible credit for people on low incomes.

Our service is supported by dedicated volunteers, but with the cost-of-living affecting so many Victorians we are needing more support now to help with the rising demand.

Become a volunteer?     REGISTER

As a Vinnies NILS volunteer you will:

  • Receive hands on training by Good Shepherd Microfinance
  • Respond to enquiries by phone or email
  • Send out loan application packs to prospective borrowers via mail or email
  • Collecting and checking loan application documents
  • Entering information into the specialised NILS software

All applicants must be 18 years and older, and be able to commit just a couple of hours a week for six months. Vinnies NILS can support student placements from TAFE and universities.

To become a volunteer, the St Vincent de Paul Society Victoria requires Police Checks and Working with Children Checks to be done.
