Revenue and Expenditure

Our financial decisions reflect our values and priorities.

"For when I was hungry you gave me food..."

Inspired by the compassion of Jesus Christ to all, this is the calling that unites all Vincentians who seek to be kind and deeply respectful to everyone they serve.

A Clear Look at Our Finances

Understanding Our Income and Expenses

Our Income

Our income comes from a variety of sources, reflecting both community generosity and government support. This ensures we can deliver vital services to those who need them most.

  • Government Grants: Funding from both the Commonwealth and Northern Territory Governments, which supports specific programs such as homelessness services, housing, emergency relief and aged care support.
  • Fundraising Activities: Proceeds from events (like the CEO Sleepout) and seasonal campaigns (like the Christmas Appeal) raise awareness and funds for critical programs. Donations and Bequests.
  • Retail Operations: Income from sales in our Vinnies shops, which both funds our programs and provides affordable goods to the community.
  • Investment Income: Earnings from interest and dividends on investments.
  • Other Income: Includes rental income from our social housing and hostel properties, reimbursements, and miscellaneous program-related receipts and other donations that do not fit into the other categories above.

Our Expenses

We strive to ensure that the maximum possible proportion of our expenditure is directed to programs and services that directly benefit the community and our companions.

  • Program Services: The largest portion of our expenses covers the delivery of homelessness support, emergency relief, community housing, and aged care programs.
  • Retail Operations: Costs associated with running our Vinnies shops, including staffing, property expenses, and logistics.
  • Administration & Operations: Essential costs to ensure sound governance and organisational sustainability, including salaries for administrative staff, office costs, council and housing board costs, training, data and software licences,  insurance and utilities.
  • Finance, Consulting & Miscellaneous: Includes consulting fees, finance costs, and other minor administrative costs that support the overall functioning of the Society.
