Submissions By Topics

The St Vincent de Paul Society makes written submissions to Parliamentary inquiries, government departments and budget processes to advocate for people experiencing poverty, disadvantage and social exclusion. These submissions respond to proposed laws, policies and consultations across areas such as income support, housing and homelessness, health, secure work, refugees and people seeking asylum, Indigenous affairs, disaster resilience and broader social policy.

Submissions span a wide range of social justice and policy issues where the Society has direct frontline experience and expertise. Recent topics include the cost of living and welfare reform, financial wellbeing and capability programs, housing and homelessness plans, youth justice, alcohol and other drug use, employment services, migration and humanitarian programs, Indigenous constitutional recognition, disaster funding and national food security.
