Standing in solidarity with Venezuela earthquake victims

On behalf of the St Vincent de Paul Society National Council of Australia, I express our deep sorrow at the loss of life and the widespread destruction caused by the recent earthquakes in Venezuela.

We hold in our thoughts and prayers all those who have lost loved ones, homes and livelihoods. This is a time of great hardship, and we stand in solidarity with the people of Venezuela as they face the long road to recovery.

The Society of St Vincent de Paul has a strong and active presence in Venezuela. Our Vincentian members there are already working within their communities, offering support, compassion and practical assistance to those most affected. We are in close spirit with them as they respond to this tragedy.

To members of the Venezuelan community here in Australia, we extend our heartfelt support. We recognise the distress of seeing your homeland affected in this way while being far from family and friends. Please know that you are not alone, and that our Society stands with you during this difficult time.

We pray for strength, comfort and hope for all those affected.
