Vinnies CEO Sleepout

Media Release
24/06/2022

The St Vincent de Paul Society in Australia National Council thanks the thousands of participants and supporters who made the Vinnies 2022 CEO Sleepout such a success.

This year CEO and community sleepouts around Australia raised more than $9 million to support people experiencing homelessness, domestic violence, and hardship.

‘Vinnies is deeply grateful to the thousands of Australians who supported CEO and community sleepouts across the country,’ National President Claire Victory said.

‘Whether you slept out, donated, volunteered, or sponsored the event, your contributions will ensure Vinnies can provide hot meals, safe and warm beds and support services for people experiencing disadvantage for the year to come,’ Ms Victory said.

The St Vincent de Paul Society provides compassionate and respectful care to people experiencing, or at risk of, homelessness across Australia every day. The Vinnies CEO Sleepout is an experiential event that both educates participants about homelessness and raises crucial funds to allow the Society to provide services to people in need.

Leaders from a wide variety of organisations, government and community groups who participate in the event hear directly from people with lived experience and learn more about this complex issue first-hand. They are also called to advocate on the issue beyond the event to help bring about change.

Ms Victory recognised the special contribution that St Vincent de Paul members and volunteers across Australia make to the work of the Society.

‘Members and volunteers are at the heart of our organisation and the work of the Society could not take place without them,’ Ms Victory said.

‘Every day, our members and volunteers live their faith in action by visiting people in their homes and in the community, providing friendship and practical support to Australians in need.

‘I thank St Vincent de Paul Society staff and volunteers across Australia for delivering another successful series of CEO and community sleepouts.

‘The funds raised through this important initiative will provide much-needed resources for members and volunteers to help Australians in need to put food on the table, pay essential bills, stay in their homes, and keep their kids clothed and at school,’ Ms Victory said.
