Work for our National Council

The St Vincent de Paul Society National Council of Australia represents and guides the Society nationally, enabling and facilitating the state and territory councils to achieve our mission.

The National Council Secretariate team is based in Canberra, ACT and employs skilled professionals across various departments including advocacy, policy, strategy, overseas partnerships, communications and IT.

Current Positions

We’re looking for a National Membership Project Officer to join the St Vincent de Paul Society National Council team and help strengthen our Membership, Mission & Youth work across Australia.

This part-time role (60.8 hours per fortnight) is based with the National Council Secretariate in Deakin West, ACT, with flexible in-office and work-from-home arrangements – also open to remote working for the right candidate.

Working closely with the National Manager – Membership, Mission & Youth, the National Council CEO, Standing Committees, and national networks, you’ll support the delivery of membership-related projects that grow Vincentian life, strengthen governance, and enhance the Society’s mission across our State and Territory Councils.

We’re seeking someone with strong project management, stakeholder engagement and communication skills, who can confidently work across multiple projects and committees, build collaborative relationships, and keep things moving in a high-volume, demand-driven environment. Experience in member-based or mission-driven organisations and an understanding of the Society as a lay Catholic organisation will be highly regarded.

We are seeking an IT Systems and Security Administrator to support the secure, reliable and effective operation of the National Council Secretariate’s IT systems, Microsoft 365 cloud services and end‑user technology environment. This is a full‑time role, based in Deakin, Canberra.

The position of Overseas Partnerships Program Administrator supports the Overseas Partnerships Program (OPP) to run efficiently and effectively, in line with good development practice, according to established policy and procedures and meets the needs of our partners overseas. This includes: 

  1. Supporting the Overseas Partnerships Program Director and Facilitator, to administer the ongoing OPP program. 
  2. Supporting local conferences, regional and central councils and state/territory Overseas Partnerships Committees in their overseas development work by maintaining Australia’s OPP databases, preparing remittances and status checks, updating records and preparing reports on Administration activities as required.  

A key component of the position is to ensure timely and accurate record keeping and initiating and responding to communications with stakeholders of the program as identified above in professional relationships.
