NEW Part III approved

On 17 January 2026, the Permanent Section of Council General International approved the amendments to Part III of The Rue proposed by National Council of Australia Australia’s National Council as forwarded to Paris in late October 2025.

Next Steps

As of 30 January 2026, National Council is implementing the next steps to assist Society Members become familiar with the revised Part III.

1. Producing an online edition of Part III which will be available from the Society’s website by Friday 6 February 2026.

2. Producing an interim print edition of Part III which will be available from the Society’s website in pdf format by Friday 6 Friday 2026.

Timing for final edition: Council General International is scheduled to review amendments to Part II at the General Assembly meeting scheduled for June 2026. When Part II amendments have been endorsed, then the Australian print and html versions will be updated. This will involve a print run. State and Territory Councils are advising National Council’s Secretariate about the number of copies each jurisdiction would like printed. A printed version should be available by late July.

3. Briefings to outline important new/revised Articles are being organised for State & Territory Council Members, Directors of related bodies corporate and Executive Leadership Teams are being organised between March to June 2026.

4. Town Halls for Society Members – dates (likely June 2026) and details are yet to be settled – watch this space.

5. Jurisdictions are nominating Part III Ambassadors to be the first point of contact for queries from Society Members about the interpretation of a matter in an article or a Procedure that a Member(s)/Conference/Council seeks guidance on to fully understand.

6. The Procedures – National Council expects to have these finalised by 9 April 2026. These will be printed in a booklet that accompanies the full revised version of the Rule in July 2026. In the meantime, the Secretariate is exploring whether this material can be made available through the website.

7. The Appendices – it is anticipated these will be finalised by June 2026 if not before. Much of this material includes links to existing documents. Because links regularly change, the Appendices will be available only online.
