Honouring Peter & Giulana lifetime of service

On 22 June 2025, the St Vincent de Paul Society Victoria gathered in a warm, heartfelt ceremony to celebrate two of its most dedicated members – Peter and Giulana Chiappini. Who, after two decades of unwavering commitment, were retiring from the Society’s Reservoir Conference.

For over 20 years, Peter and Giulana have been pillars of compassion and service in their community. Their journey began with small acts of kindness – visiting the sick, delivering food and clothing, and lending a listening ear to people in need. Over time, their dedication only deepened, inspiring others to join the cause.

As longtime Vincentians, the Chiappinis were known not just for their generosity, but for the genuine empathy and respect with which they treated every person they helped. Their tireless work bridged gaps and brought hope to many lives in the Reservoir area and Italian communities.

On this special day, surrounded by fellow Vincentians, friends and family, Peter and Giulana were presented with the Emeritus Vincentians Award – a prestigious honour recognising their exceptional service and lasting impact on the Society. As well as a blessing conducted by Fr Gregory Prichard, who has encouraged and promoted the Society’s good works as Parish Priest at St Gabriel’s Parish Reservoir.

Both Peter and Giulana are few in words but great in deeds and action. Like St Pier Giorgio Frassati they not only share the same cultural background, but both embody the true spirit of Vincentian service – humble, persistent and filled with love. Their contributions have strengthened our community and will inspire future generations. 

As the day concluded, there was a sense of gratitude and continuity. Though Peter and Giulana were stepping back, their legacy will continue to guide the St Vincent de Paul Society Victoria’s mission for years to come.
