Meet Kim

One snip at a time

Meet Kim who by sharing her hairdressing skills, is changing people's lives one haircut at a time.
Meet Kim who volunteers her hairdressing skills at Ozanam House

Every year, thousands of people support the St Vincent de Paul Society Victoria to assist fellow Victorians who need that little bit of extra help.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to individual donors and fundraisers, churches, community groups, schools, corporates, trusts and foundations, and members and volunteers who stood by the St Vincent de Paul Society Victoria throughout the year in diverse ways such as financial support, gifts in-kind or volunteering their time, skills and expertise.

Kind-hearted people like Kim, who is making a difference, one haircut at a time.

Kim had volunteered in various roles before, however, was particularly looking for a volunteer role where she could bring in her hairdressing expertise and give back to the community.

Ozanam House was the perfect fit. Kim contacted our volunteer coordinator Louise and very soon she was heading to North Melbourne and using her hairdressing skills giving people we assist a fresh look and a boost of confidence.

For many at Ozanam House, a trip to the hairdresser is a luxury they can't afford, but then Kim came through the doors with her hairdressing supplies and styling talents.

“Many times today, we saw how this service made people feel, it was heart-warming,” said Louise.

The good news is that Kim will be back in the new year to put a smile on many more faces.
