A legacy for good

Your Will is your last gift. Here is the suggested wording for your solicitor to include.
Leaving a legacy in your will can change the life of many in the future

WORDING FOR YOUR WILL

Your Will is one of the most important documents you will ever prepare. Should you generously decide to include a gift to St Vincent de Paul Society Victoria in your Will, please use the following suggested wording (depending on how you wish to gift your estate), to ensure your wishes are fulfilled.

1.  Residuary gift

A gift of your whole residuary estate:

I give my residuary estate to St Vincent de Paul Society Victoria (ABN 28 911 702 061) of 43 Prospect Street, Box Hill, Victoria, 3128 for its general purposes.

I declare that the receipt of an authorised officer for the time being of St Vincent de Paul Society Victoria shall be a full and sufficient discharge for my executors.

A gift of a percentage of your residuary estate:

I give [insert percentage]% of my residuary estate to St Vincent de Paul Society Victoria (ABN 28 911 702 061) of 43 Prospect Street, Box Hill, Victoria 3128, for its general purposes.

I declare that the receipt of an authorised officer for the time being of St Vincent de Paul Society Victoria shall be a full and sufficient discharge for my executors.

2. Monetary gift

I give [insert specific sum of money] to St Vincent de Paul Society Victoria (ABN 28 911 702 061) of 43 Prospect Street, Box Hill, Victoria 3128, for its general purposes.

I declare that the receipt of an authorised officer for the time being of St Vincent de Paul Society Victoria shall be a full and sufficient discharge for my executors.

3. Specific gift

I give [specify asset with sufficient detail so that it may be identified e.g. property or shares] to St Vincent de Paul Society Victoria (ABN 28 911 702 061) of 43 Prospect Street, Box Hill, Victoria 3128, free of all duties and encumbrances, for its general purposes.

I declare that the receipt of an authorised officer for the time being of St Vincent de Paul Society Victoria shall be a full and sufficient discharge for my executors.

A gift to St Vincent de Paul Society Victoria for its ‘general purposes’ is preferred, as it ensures that we can apply the gift for the area most in need at the relevant time. However, if you want to benefit a specific purpose, please firstly contact us to ensure that it can be fulfilled. We also ask that you include that purpose as a wish, as opposed to a direction, so that if we cannot use your gift for that area in the future, we can use it for similar work.
