Our appeals
Back to School Appeal
Zora is a bright and determined 12‑year‑old in Grade 6. Her family works hard to support her education, but limited resources — largely spent on medication, rent and food — make it difficult to cover school-related costs.
ZORA'S STORY
I want to take a moment to say a big thank you to all of your Footscray volunteer team for their kindness and great support. You have helped me so much with the cost of my school fees, school uniform, books, etc., and without this help, I am unable to fulfil my educational expenses. I am so grateful; thank you.
Christmas Appeal
Poverty can easily become the new normal. One minute every thing is fine and then an unexpected accident changes everything as Sarah found out. Three growing kids, accumulating medical bills, soaring rent prices and cost of living pressures changed Sarah's life but with the support from Vinnies life started to improve.
SARAH'S STORY
“I honestly didn’t know how we’d survive,” Sarah says. “From where we were standing, the future was looking very dark. Having Vinnies is almost like having another family. They’ve restored my faith in humanity and given me hope for the future,” said Sarah.
Spring Appeal
Rick never imagined life in his 50s would mean sleeping in his car during the week and relying on soup vans for his only hot meals.
RICK'S STORY
“I never thought hot soup could mean so much, but it did. It made me feel like someone actually cared. The sandwiches they sorted out for me, it’s what makes my week just a little easier. Makes me feel like I’ve got a bit of a chance again, you know.”
Winter Appeal
Your support this Winter will help vulnerable people like sisters, Abigail and Isabella, who struggled with housing instability following the breakdown of their parents marriage. Your gift can help make sure Vinnies is there to support them into long-term solutions, every step of the way.
ABIGAIL & ISABELLA'S STORY
“We were moving from house to house a lot. I think we lived in four houses in five years,” says Isabella. “We had each other. That’s what got us through.”
