Advent is the period leading up to Christmas. It starts on the Sunday nearest to 30 November and ends on the fourth Sunday before 25 December. The word 'advent' means 'coming'. It is a time of preparation for the celebration of the birth of Jesus.
Christmas is a time of reflection and celebration.
Each week leading up to Christmas, we light an Advent Candle for that week. The candles reflect Hope, Faith, Love, Joy and Peace.
This Mass allows us an opportunity to come together in the days prior to Christmas and celebrate the good works of the St Vincent de Paul Society Victoria as well as bring hope to the world in the spirit of Christmas.
