The St Vincent de Paul Society Tasmania's Dining with Friends program is a community initiative that brings together volunteers and people who are isolated or lonely, to share a meal and socialise. The program aims to combat social isolation and build community connections by providing a safe and welcoming space for people to come together and share a meal.

Some of the specific activities and initiatives undertaken by the Dining with Friends program include:
<ul>
<li>Helping to prepare nutritious meals as a highlight of the week for many of our guests;</li>
<li>Hosting regular meals at a growing number of locations across Tasmania;</li>
<li>Offering a friendly and welcoming environment for people of all ages and backgrounds; and</li>
<li>Encouraging the wider community to get involved by attending a Dining with Friends evening.</li>
</ul>
Volunteers play a crucial role in the success of the Dining with Friends program. Some of the activities of a Dining with Friends volunteer include:

<li>Preparing food and drinks for the meal;</li>
<li>Setting up tables and chairs, and decorating the space to create a homely presence;</li>
<li>Serving food and drinks to guests;</li>
<li>Engaging with guests to provide a friendly, welcoming ‘family’ environment;</li>
<li>Assisting with cleaning-up after the event; and</li>
<li>Participating in fundraising activities and community events to support the Dining with Friends program.</li>
