Vinnies works with students and young people across South Australia to raise awareness of social justice issues in their communities and empower them to create positive change both in their own lives and in the world around them.
Through learning, advocacy, and action, students are supported to explore meaningful responses to the challenges they see around them. Much of this happens with the guidance of educators and the broader school community, making it a collaborative and impactful journey.

We have a range of interactive activities, and workshops for schools which want to expand their understanding of different areas of social justice and how they can support the local community.

Mini Vinnies groups give primary school students the chance to become advocates for social justice within their school and local community by putting Vinnies' values into action. These groups meet regularly to learn about social justice issues, build leadership skills, and engage with their community.
Open to all primary schools (not just Catholic), Mini Vinnies usually includes students from Years 3–6. All you need is a group of interested students, a supportive teacher or parent, and school permission.
Vinnies Next Gen empower secondary students to recognise, reflect and respond to causes of human injustice through advocacy and action in their local communities.
They meet regularly to explore ways of achieving a more just and compassionate society, develop leadership skills and engage with the wider St Vincent de Paul Society.
Are you a young person aged 15 or older looking to make a difference?
You can volunteer in one of our 35 Vinnies Op Shops across SA and gain real-life experience in a supportive workplace. It’s a great way to build skills, meet new people, and be part of the good works Vinnies does every day.
If you're 18 or older, you can also volunteer in other Vinnies services such as Fred’s Van, local conferences, and more!

Vinnies School Sleepouts give students and school communities a glimpse into the realities of homelessness by ‘sleeping rough’ for one night. It’s a powerful way to raise awareness and generate vital funds to support programs for people experiencing poverty.
Beyond fundraising, the sleepout encourages students to develop a deeper understanding of the challenges faced by people experiencing homelessness. It’s an opportunity for meaningful learning and reflection.
Once your school registers for a Sleepout, the Vinnies Youth Team will be in touch to support you through the process.
Vinnies Community Sleepouts invite participants to experience a night without the usual comforts, offering a glimpse into the realities faced by people experiencing homelessness. It’s a meaningful way to raise awareness and generate vital funds to support Vinnies programs that assist those living in poverty and hardship.
More than just a fundraiser, the Sleepout encourages reflection and deeper understanding of the complex challenges surrounding homelessness. It’s a chance to connect, learn, and stand in solidarity with those doing it tough.
Once your group registers for a Sleepout, the Vinnies Youth Team will reach out to guide and support you through the planning and event process whether you're part of a university, community organisation, or any group committed to making a difference.
Vinnies engages with universities and their students through expos, educational materials, leadership and volunteering opportunities.
If your university is interested in working with us, we’d love to hear from you!
