Youth Programs

"I thoroughly enjoy volunteering with Vinnies as it gives me many opportunities to develop my own skills, gives me an outlet to spend time on issues that I feel strongly about and, pushes me outside of my comfort zone."

There are three Vinnies youth programs that support children and young people – St Nick’s Young Carers Program, St Joe’s Youth Program and VINES Teens Program. The programs provide children and young people with camps and activities that they may not otherwise access due to their caring role, social isolation or financial restraints on their family.

We offer professional training to our volunteers in areas such as first aid, trauma-informed practice and mental health. New volunteers are also mentored by experienced volunteer leaders and employees of the Youth and Young Adults team.

Time Frame: Activities are monthly for half a day on a Saturday or Sunday. Camps are between 3 to 5 days, depending on the program.

Volunteers must be 17 years and over.
All volunteers must have a Working With Vulnerable People card (WWVP).
Additional checks may also be required, including a National Criminal History Check, and/or reference checking.
