Advocacy
St Vincent de Paul Society Canberra/Goulburn advocates to address challenging issues in our local community. We can be the voice for those who cannot speak for themselves and be a constructive agent of change and provide expert insights in some of the key social disadvantage issues affecting our community.
We stand in solidarity with people who are experiencing disadvantage and also strive to bring about greater awareness of the structural issues that give rise to inequality through our advocacy.
St Vincent de Paul Society Canberra/Goulburn is collaborating with the community sectors, all levels of government and the wider community to address challenging issues in our region on the following issues:

Regional Social Justice Statement
Our Regional Social Justice Statement highlights the housing challenges people are facing across regional NSW and calls for better access to affordable housing, mental health services and support. Based on local experiences, the statement outlines practical solutions to help prevent homelessness and build stronger, more connected communities.
Social Justice Advocacy Strategy
Through our Social Justice Advocacy Strategy 2026-2028, we are committed to addressing the root causes of disadvantage by amplifying the voices of people with lived experience and advocating for fair, evidence-based policies. Guided by our faith and values, we work alongside communities, partners and decision-makers to reduce social disadvantage, improve housing security, strengthen community services and ensure public policy reflects the needs and experiences of the people it affects most.
