St Vincent de Paul Society NSW is set to reveal the latest addition to the 220+ Vinnies stores across the state, with the newest shop opening in Taminda–South Tamworth this week.

Vinnies Taminda will be the first and only shop in the region equipped to receive and resell furniture items. As a result, it will offer an impressive selection of pre-loved armchairs, dining tables, bookshelves, and more.

The new store will also stock the new range of Vinnies recycled homewares, catering for modern shoppers wanting eco-friendly and sustainable options for their home decor.

More than just a place to shop for second-hand goods, the location will host a recycling hub for donations, promoting a cycle of reuse and reducing waste within local communities. Vinnies’ efforts to save usable items from ending up in landfill will reach far beyond Taminda, as the donations received at the recycling hub will also stock shops in surrounding areas including Narrabri, Moree and Barraba.

As well as re-using items that would otherwise end up in landfill, Vinnies Shops raise critical funds for the Society every year, to help people at risk of or experiencing disadvantage.

“Every day, our members are able to provide help to people experiencing hardship because of the funds raised by Vinnies Shops,” said David Powter, Regional Manager, Retail North West.

In the past 6 months, St Vincent de Paul Society NSW assisted over 500 individuals in the Tamworth region and distributed more than $47,000 in financial and material assistance to residents in need. This was more than double the support, both financially and in the number of people assisted, compared to the same time last year.

The Vinnies Taminda shop couldn’t open without the hard work and dedication of incredible volunteers and staff. Volunteers donate a few hours of their time each week to assist customers, sort donations and maintain the day-to-day running of the shop. Locals who are interested in volunteering with Vinnies Taminda are encouraged to apply online or visit the store to meet the team in person.
