Our Organisation Structure and Roles

Governance Structure Canberra/Goulburn

Society members form Conferences and provide front line help to Companions in need of assistance. In accordance with The Rule, individual Conferences form larger Regional Conferences that then elect a Territory President.

​​​​​​​The Territory Council includes the Territory President, Regional Presidents and appointed Vice Presidents.

Collectively, Society members are an unincorporated association, led by Territory Council.

Legally, St Vincent de Paul Society Canberra/Goulburn (the company) is a public company limited by guarantee. Company members include those members of Territory Council who agree to become a member of the company and guarantee the company in the event of winding up. The company is governed by a board of directors that operates the Society’s business and services, except for membership services or Conference Work that are administered by the Territory Council.​​​​​​​

The St Vincent de Paul Canberra/Goulburn Board provides strategic oversight and direction for the activities of the company.  The Board is supported by Advisory Committees:

  • Special Works Committee
  • Finance Committee
  • Audit and Risk Committee
  • Bequest Committee
  • Safeguarding Committee
  • Social Justice & Advocacy Committee
