Vinnies Hunter Charity Golf Day to support locals in need

Media Release
28/10/2026

St Vincent de Paul Society NSW will host a Hunter Charity Golf Day for the first time next month to raise vital funds in support of its services in the region.

Players of all levels are invited to take part in the inaugural event on Monday November 23 at Charlestown Golf Club in a four-person Ambrose format, while testing their skill with the straightest drive and nearest to the pin. Attendees can also participate in a Best Dressed from Vinnies, hear from guest speakers and take part in a charity raffle with prizes donated by Reflections Holiday Parks, Supa Putt Newcastle, Reading Cinemas and Wests Newcastle.

Funds raised from the Vinnies Hunter Charity Golf Day will support the vital work of local programs and services operating across the region, assisting people with food, clothing, household bills, accommodation, emotional support and more.

The Society NSW supported over 13,700 people across the Hunter in the past year, including one in four for the first time, with local Conference members providing $2.3 million in financial and material assistance.

“We’re delighted to be holding a Charity Golf Day for the first time to bring the community together and raise awareness of the support we provide in the region,” said Clare Van Doorn, St Vincent de Paul Society NSW Regional Director North East.

“Funds raised from the day will remain in the local community allowing our members to respond to the growing demand for assistance.

“Over three in five people reaching out for assistance are experiencing housing stress, so having the funds from the day will play an integral role in responding to that need.

“We’re eager to get local businesses on board to grow this day into an annual event. Vinnies is a part of so many communities across the Hunter through our members, shops and services – any support we receive goes back into supporting our neighbours doing it tough.”

The Vinnies Hunter Charity Golf Day is sponsored by Camplify and ADE Power Australia; sponsorship opportunities for the Vinnies Hunter Charity Golf Day are still available by contacting maitland.newcastle@vinnies.org.au or (02) 4967 6277.

Individual players can register for $110 with teams of four signing up for $420. Each player receives the green fees, breakfast, lunch, one drink and a raffle ticket. Breakfast begins at 7.00am with players teeing off for a shotgun start at 8.00am.

To get involved, locals are invited to register a team, sponsor holes, donate a prize, or simply donate online. To find out more or get involved, please visit nsw.vinnies.org.au/huntergolfday.
