2026 VINNIES CEO SLEEPOUT MARKS RECORD-BREAKING YEAR WITH $10 MILLION RAISED NATIONALLY

The 2026 Vinnies CEO Sleepout has delivered a record-breaking result, raising $10 million nationally, the highest total in the event’s history, as demand for homelessness services across Australia continues to intensify.

In New South Wales, business and community leaders came together to raise over $2.3 million, which will directly fund homelessness and housing services run by St Vincent de Paul Society NSW. Grant Steward from Consep Pty Ltd raised close to $270,000 to finish as the highest NSW and national fundraiser.

In NSW participants slept out in Sydney at the White Bay Cruise Terminal; at Fort Scratchley in Newcastle; and Conservatorium of Music in Wollongong.

This year’s record result comes at a time of growing demand for support. Over the past year, the Society has supported 23% more people experiencing homelessness, with more people seeking assistance and presenting with increasingly complex needs.

Calls to the Society NSW’s helpline have also surged, nearly doubling compared to the same time last year as more people face housing stress driven by rising rents, increasing living costs and unexpected life events.

“This fundraising result reflects the generosity of people across the community, from participants to the donors who continue to raise money that directly supports people experiencing homelessness,” said Yolanda Saiz, St Vincent de Paul Society NSW CEO.

“While the event doesn’t aim to replicate homelessness, the Vinnies CEO Sleepout helps build understanding and turn that into real action and funding for the people we support every day.”

Over the past year, the Society has assisted over 6,000 people through its homelessness and housing services across NSW. Funds raised will enable the Society NSW to deliver vital services including crisis accommodation, domestic and family violence refuges, social housing, case management, and mobile outreach through Vinnies Vans.

“The funds raised through the Vinnies CEO Sleepout will have a direct and lasting impact for the people we assist through our homelessness services across NSW,” said Peter Houweling, St Vincent de Paul Society NSW State President.

“With more people turning to us for help, this support ensures we can continue to provide practical assistance and be there for those facing homelessness or housing insecurity.”
