Designed to reduce environmental footprints and drive positive social impact, the new VUCOR (Vinnies Used Cooking Oil Recycling) scheme offers hospitality venues competitive rebates for their waste oil collection.
Vinnies have partnered with EcoFry, a proudly Australian-owned sustainability company specialising in the recovery and recycling of used cooking oil from the hospitality and foodservice industry.
Used cooking oil is often overlooked as a waste stream, yet it has significant environmental impact if disposed of incorrectly.
EcoFry’s closed-loop recovery model ensures used oil collected through the Vinnies program is given a second life. Rather than polluting waterways or contributing to landfill, recovered oil is upcycled into renewable fuels and other sustainable outputs, reducing reliance on virgin fossil resources.
This partnership helps demonstrate how everyday operational waste can be redirected into meaningful environmental outcomes.
Switching from another service provider to the VUCOR scheme also has the added benefit of funding the work of St Vincent de Paul Society NSW. Venues who sign up will be supporting Vinnies’ vital work in the community as EcoFry contributes a charitable rebate to Vinnies for every litre of oil that is collected through the program.
Funds raised through the VUCOR charitable rebate will be reinvested into the community through a range of programs and services run by St Vincent de Paul Society NSW. For example, the proceeds might provide accommodation for someone who is experiencing homelessness, or feed a family who are struggling to make ends meet in the current cost-of-living crisis.
