Vinnies announces Round 3 of its Bushfire Community Grants program

The St Vincent de Paul Society NSW is offering Bushfire Community Grants of up to $30,000 and organisations in areas affected by the black summer bushfires are encouraged to apply.

“In many areas, particularly those hit hardest by the black summer bushfires, communities are still rebuilding,” St Vincent de Paul Society NSW CEO, Jack de Groot, said.

“The St Vincent de Paul Society NSW is now accepting applications for our third round of community grants.

“Grassroots organisations are encouraged to apply for grants of up to $30,000 – with applications closing on 9 July.

“The aim is to attract projects that help rebuild and create future resilience and those that contribute to positive, worthwhile community causes.

“This is part of the Society’s plan to support people affected by natural disasters like the black summer bushfires for the long haul,” Mr de Groot said.

“In the immediate aftermath, our Members were on the ground providing emergency supplies like food and clothes as well as temporary accommodation,” St Vincent de Paul Society NSW President, Peter McNamara, said.

“Since the immediate crisis passed, we have been working with communities to help them replace what was lost.

“These grants are part of our long-term plan to help the areas most devastated during the black summer bushfires rebound,” Mr McNamara, said.

“The lesson Vinnies has learned over the nearly 140 years we’ve been operating in Australia is that damage from natural disasters persists long after its cause has passed.

“People affected by drought, fire, and flood don’t just need help in the immediate sense, they need help in the long-term.

“And that’s what we’re doing here.

“If you have a project that needs funding that will help restore your community following the black summer bushfires, please, apply,” Mr McNamara said.
