What you need to know
The St Vincent de Paul Society operates over 105 Vinnies Shops throughout Victoria. Our shops exist to provide a shopping experience which allows customers to buy goods from our shops with every dollar spent going back into the local community. The generous donation of time and skills shown by our volunteers plays a crucial role in keeping our Vinnies shops alive.
Working in our Shops
As a volunteer, we want to give you an opportunity to contribute a unique set of skills, knowledge and experience. Volunteers in our shops perform a wide range of tasks, based on their individual skills and experience, some tasks include:
- Sorting donated clothing and bric-a-brac
- Serving customers
- Preparing stock of sale
- Pricing items
- Displays / merchandising
- Front counter
- Donation repairs
Our volunteers are the face of our Vinnies Shops, coming across people from all walks of life on a daily basis, so a warm and welcoming personality is essential.
How often would I need to volunteer?
The hours and days vary depending on personal circumstances such as study, work and family commitments, as well as the requirements of shops rosters. Many volunteers donate their time on a very regular basis, while others volunteer when they have time.
What else do I need to know?
It is important to note that all positions within St Vincent de Paul Society, including all volunteer roles, are subject to a Police Check and Working with Children Check.
