Bringing hope to families this Christmas

“When the woman came out of the tent and we saw she was pregnant, I thought ‘We’re not leaving her here. We’ve got to do something’."  - John, Vinnies volunteer.

This year, the Vinnies Christmas Appeal shares the story of Heidi and Nikolas who, like many families, are struggling. Since the pandemic began, many have lost work, and now as the bills continue to mount, some are struggling to keep a roof over their heads.

Heidi was heavily pregnant and the young couple were living in a tent. They had lost their home, and when they could no longer stay with family and friends, they had no other options.

The funds we receive through the annual Christmas fundraising appeal helps with emergency relief, such as providing food, and financial aid for housing, utility bills and medications allowing people to focus on more than day-to-day survival. This support is vital in helping ease some of the burdens faced by families, especially during this time of year.

Thankfully, our volunteers were there to help Heidi and Nikolas get back on their feet – and ensure that the young couple could spend their first Christmas as a family in their new home. To help more families like Heidi and Nikolas, please click HERE
