This week, we mark one of the most important dates on our calendar – National Homelessness Week (1 – 7 August) – with this Homelessness edition of the St Vincent de Paul Society Victoria’s Societynews.

This Societynews focuses on the ever-present issue of homelessness and how our services help vulnerable people in our community. |
As many of our members, volunteers and frontline teams know all too well, there is no one person who fits a ‘homelessness’ profile. Homelessness can be an unexpected medical or large car repair bill away or, simply, ‘a perfect storm’ of misfortune due to the combination of rising rent, utility and food prices.
Our services and programs help prevent vulnerable people from becoming homeless and support others on their journey out of homelessness towards independence. How wonderful to say that we are part of the solution. Or, in other words, that ‘change starts here’. With us.
Yes, change starts with a warm cup of soup at our soup van services; a ‘How are you?’ from one of our conference members and the right wrap-around support, such as our Client Volunteer Program at Ozanam House.
This is something we can all share in and be proud of.
Enjoy reading more about our work during this important week…and please share our stories widely and proudly.
