AGL gets onboard
Winter is a particularly difficult time of year for people experiencing homelessness, poverty and isolation so we were extremely grateful to AGL for joining us for a volunteer day where no task was too big.

So, on Monday 28 June, six AGL volunteers joined our Vinnies Soup Van team in North Melbourne to prepare nutritious sandwiches, pack hampers for people sleeping rough as well as food hampers for those in local social housing and then joined our regular Vinnies volunteers to distribute the food hampers. The AGL team arrived on the day with bags of donated in-demand products such as cereals and breakfast drinks.

We are extremely appreciative of the AGL team's energy and enthusiasm who helped us:

  • Deliver 225 meals to Melbourne’s Safe Injecting Room as well as assisting 40 rough sleepers and 90 weekly food hampers
  • Make 120 fruit and veggie hampers including 70 rough sleeper hampers
  • Prepare 260 sandwiches
  • Package approx 100 mask/spoon/welfare assistance bags

With the workplace changes brought about by COVID, the team from AGL wanted to re-group, re-connect and do something meaningful to give back to their local community. AGL has a great commitment to social awareness and provides paid volunteer leave so that they can give their time to assist organisations like Vinnies.
