Wound care campaign features in The Record
In the Summer 2013-2014 Record magazine Vinnies informed our members, volunteers and supporters that chronic wounds or ulcers affect around 270,000 Australians. Yet treatments for chronic wounds cost from $30 to $50 a week. For a pensioner, subsisting on $356 a week, this cost is prohibitively high, at 10% of their weekly income but vital treatments for wounds – such as bandages and compression materials – are not covered on Medicare or the pharmaceutical benefits scheme. Vinnies believes this needs to change, and we need your help to do it.
What we need you to do
- Document stories in your local area
- Write to your local member using a form letter Vinnies have prepared. There is a Word Document version of the letter at the end of this page that can be downloaded.
- Please send a copy of this letter to your local MP in the first instance, and then kindly send a copy of the letter to the National Council office at:
