The Society participated in a forum on the development of an Australian Government Social Cohesion statement. The feedback provided acknowledged that true social cohesion requires all Australians to take responsibility for it, not just new Australian citizens. Further, the statement must acknowledge and recognise our First Nations people and should reflect the fact that Australia is a party to seven core international human rights treaties and seven other protocols.
