For Busselton resident, Sharon O’Kane the FIFO life doesn’t compare to her new role as manager for the St Vincent de Paul Society’s Bunbury depot & shop.Busselton Shop Volunteer and Manager

Sharon is stoked to have landed the role of Depot Manager having been a long-time supporter of the organisation, including previously being a regular volunteer at the Busselton store.

“I just love Vinnies,” Sharon said. “It is such an important service and it’s great to be a part of an organisation that helps people in need.”

“I even gave up a volunteer fire fighting role so that I could do this job - that’s how much I love Vinnies!” she said.

Sharon started in the role last month and said they were in desperate need of volunteers.

“We have some really wonderful people who generously give of their time but we are in real need of more people who can lend a hand, whether it is assisting in the store, or driving the truck to collect goods.

“I know they will find it really rewarding being a volunteer with Vinnies. I find that every day is like Christmas with the excitement of seeing what new donations have arrived,” Sharon said.

“The other day we received a very old bible that dated back to1885 and written on the inside cover it said “to be kept in the family and passed down to each generation”.

Volunteers at Vinnies are trained in all areas of working in a retail environment including register operation, customer service, sorting and pricing donations and merchandising.
