The annual Passages Race Day to be held at Belmont Race Course this Saturday May 24 will see a record 280 people from some of Perth’s top companies dress up and enjoy a great day out, all in the name of charity.

Passages Resource Centre is a joint venture of the St Vincent de Paul Society and the Rotary Club of Perth and provides facilities, support services, referrals and friendship to homeless and street present young people aged 12-25 years.

St Vincent de Paul Society spokesperson Lucinda Ardagh said the event is crucial in providing much needed funding to ensure Passages can continue to provide support to some of Western Australia’s most marginalised young people.

“Every day the staff at Passages can see up to 30 to 40 young people in need of support, and they have had over 100,000 visits by young people since opening its doors in 1999,” Ms Ardagh said.

“Without the generous support of corporate and community sponsors and the Race Day attendees, Passages would not be able to continue to provide kitchen, bathroom and laundry facilities, referrals, information, counselling and advocacy to young people in crisis in Perth,” Ms Ardagh said.

The event is once again being emceed by Nick Way and features a sit down lunch, horse racing, live and silent auctions and table raffles and is proudly supported by H&W Perry, Reed Resources and Westralian Diamond Drillers.

Some of the auction items include; 7 nights for 6 guests in Bali, Moonlight Lady Cruise for 48 passengers, 7 nights for 6 guests at Sanctuary Port Douglas, 7 nights for 10 guests in Phuket, a bottle of 1975 Penfolds Grange Hermitage, corporate box for 8 at a Wildcats home game and much more.

This is the ninth Passages Race day which last year raised over $70,000 for Perth’s homeless youth.
