New Vinnies Shop opens in Geelong

This week we celebrated the arrival of our 111th Vinnies Shop in Victoria – this one is in Norlane, Geelong. Doors opened for the first time at 10am on St Valentine’s Day.
 

The former shop we had nearby was closed in March 2020 because it was deemed inadequate to meet the needs of the community. The new shop is five times larger and delivers a fantastic range of stock and enhanced amenities for our volunteers and customers.

The community has embraced us so far – we served 341 customers on the first day and raised more than $12,000 in sales. This was more than three times the sales for the entire month of November 2019. Customers also enjoyed seeing the beautiful mural that local artist Vicki Clissold has painted on one of the walls, creating a special touch to the interior design of Shop 2, 21-31 The Boulevard.

Jeff Antcliff, Executive GM Commercial Services, says: “The opening was electric. People were queuing outside before doors opened to grab a bargain in our beautifully equipped shop.

“We’ve welcomed a new intake of volunteers from the surrounding area and the team are all so happy and proud to deliver such an outstanding offering to the community.”
